Drugstore Delights

@Shoobysays
I will be posting Makeup of the Day and other great makeup finds!

As much as I shop at Sephora and Ulta in their high-end section, I love finding products that work great, but are affordable.  These items have been my go to products for the last few weeks.  I wouldn't necessarily call them dupes, but they do remind me of a few high-end products.
The Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Foundation is a very light foundation.  I would call it a light to medium coverage.  It feels like a serum foundation, but it blends into the skin flawlessly.  I personally love foundations that feel like this, but they are not for everyone.  I do set it with a powder because otherwise it feels like it might slip right off of my face.  Once it is applied, it almost feels like I have no makeup on.  It doesn't do a great job of covering blemishes or scars, but it is great when you want something light that will even out your skin.  The applicator isn't a dropper, but the foundation does drop onto the back of your hand when placed there. I have to say that the applicator leaves a little to be desired.  I have heard of people taking the applicator directly to their face to apply their foundation, but that isn't incredibly sanitary.  I place it on the back of my hand and place my brush into it.  I have also used a beauty blender, but I prefer to use a buffing brush.  This foundation offers beautiful, light coverage.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Foundation Applicator
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is a great option at the drugstore.  It is incredibly light, but it can be built up for more coverage.  It is great for under the eyes, but make sure to set it with a powder or it will crease.  I have two shades...one that is lighter for brightening under my eyes and one that is the same color as my skin that I use to cover blemishes.
Maybelline Fit Me- $6.99 at Ulta- can be used in the Buy one get one 50% off sale.

The Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara was a pleasant surprise.  I have incredibly unruly brows and have to use numerous products to get them to behave.  At first, I hated this product, but loved it once I spent some time playing around with it.  It adds a little bit of color to my brows, which I love.  It keeps my brows in place and allows me to even them out.  I purchased mine in soft brown and absolutely love it!  Make sure that you don't have a lot of product on the brush and that you work fast.  If not, you could end up with caterpillar for eyebrows.  I comb mine out with a spoolie once I am done.  Don't be afraid to spend some time with the unique brush...practice makes perfect!

Maybelline Brow Drama Brush
I know that I have talked about the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, but I had to mention this particular color.  These truly last for hours even with eating and drinking.  I put a balm underneath and put it on without a lipliner.  The color is pigmented and long-wearing.  I don't find them to be incredibly drying, but if you prefer a glossy look, these aren't for you.  I love wearing this lippie with a really natural eye look.  If I am in a rush- this is a great lip product to grab for.  If you don't like this raspberry color, head to Ulta or Target and check out all of the colors they offer.

NYX has some great products!  I am a huge fan of their Jumbo Eye Pencils.  I love to use the eye pencil in milk as an eye primer or to carve out my eyebrows.  I am very fair so this wouldn't be a great idea to use if you are medium in skin tone or darker. This glides on seamlessly and is great to put under eye shadows to help the color pop.

Fall 2014 Lippies

Fall is a great time to experiment with vampy lip colors.  I love going through my makeup stash and replacing summer colors with fall colors.  Don't get me wrong, there are no rules to makeup.  A change of season shouldn't force you to put away your favorite shades, but should give you a chance to try out new ones.  I love berry lips, vampy lips, nude lips, and pink lips in the fall.  I would love to head to Sephora and try out all of their new formulas, colors, and brands- unfortunately, my bank account would prefer that I didn't :( These lippies have great formulas, but are all under $10. I swatched a couple of colors I just purchased for fall.  I have used them all and love their different formulas and colors.  I will go more into depth with how I use these colors in my makeup looks and what the formula and consistency is like.

NYX Butter Gloss in Devil's Food Cake
NYX Simply Vamp Lip Cream in 04 Bewitching
Maybelling Color Sensational Matte in Lust for Blush
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague
NYX Simply Nude in Fairest

If you have ever read my blog before you would know that I absolutely love the NYX Butter Glosses.  They taste great, are opaque, have a great color selection, and are vert affordable.  I get mine at Ulta, but Target is starting to carry them as well.  This particular color is a dark berry color.  You can layer it to create a bold lip, or use it sparingly to give you a nice wash of color.  I love this with a smoky eye if I am going all out, or with a cat eye if I want more attention on my lips.

Maybelline Lipsticks are a new favorite of mine.  I don't love the taste/smell, but I do love the color payoff.  The entire Maybelline Sensational Matte line is fabulous!  They have a great color selection and can be found for under $6 at Target.  They are quite a bit more at other locations.  Lust for Blush is a muted fuchsia color that will allow you to add a little bit of a punch to your fall look.  They are not drying, which I absolutely love.  If you don't like a matte look, top them with a gloss for added shine and moisture.

This may be my favorite of them all.  The color Prague is a berry/pink matte lip cream.  it is not drying and has wonderful color payoff.  This is the most long-wearing lippies of all of the ones listed here on my page.  I find that I do not need to reapply for hours.  I put a balm on before applying it and my lips do not peel or get dry at all.  The color makes my lips look nice and full and it adds a fun punch of color to my makeup.  You can top this with a gloss, but I love the matte look it gives.  I tend to wear a very neutral eye without liner and a heavy-handed highlight with this look.  It makes my face look bright and well-rested.  These are under $6 at Ulta and some Target stores.

The new NYX Simply Nude Lip Creams were released this fall at Ulta.  They have a great color selection and have testers out.  I have tons of nudes in my collection, but I needed a new nude for fall.  This is a cream, but not incredibly long-lasting.  It gives great color payoff, but I do find myself reapplying quite often.  I like to put this over a lip liner and I find that doing that extends the wear of this lip cream.  This nude has a peachy undertone which is very different from my normal pinky nudes.  If this color doesn't suit you, make sure to check out the rest of their Simply Nude collection.

The NYX Simply Vamp Lip Cream selection is great for those of you that want to try a vampy look, but want to swatch the colors first.  Ulta has testers out and offers numerous color options within this collection.  There were many shades I wanted, but were not restocked at that time.  I find this one to stain a bit, so it is a bit longer wearing than the Simply Nude collection.  Some of the shades have glitter, but most are a satin finish that is not too drying.  I love that I can wear this alone or top it with a gloss for an entirely different look.  Check this collection out-you will not be disappointed!

I hope that some of these lip items caught your attention for fall.  They are super affordable and great products!  Let me know if you have any questions or if there are any other products you would like me to review!

Beat the Heat!

My skin acts completely crazy once summer hits.  My incredibly dry skin becomes oily in the t-zone and the rest of my skin stays flaky and dry.  I always have to switch up my makeup routine in the summer to deal with the change in my skin.  I have found many products that give me a summer glow without looking like I am sweating profusely.  These products also seem to last a long time and do not break down easily.

The Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eyeshadow is great for warm weather and beach days.  It is not advertised as waterproof, but I would say that it is sweat proof.  I use the MAC Paint Pot in Painterly underneath it and it lasts all day.  I don't have any issues with creasing or moving around.  It is incredibly pigmented.  When you first use it, you need to shake it up becuase it is a bi-phase shadow.  It is made up of 50% coconut water, but when you shake it, the pigments and coconut water blend flawlessly. The pigment goes on in a liquid form, but dries to a powdery finish once it sets.  The formulation is made without parabens and sulfates.  The presence of argan oil and coconut water will allow the shadow to minimize the appearance of fine lines and to glide on smooth.

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eyeshadow:
Rio De Rose Gold- left
Playa Del Pink- right
$18.00 at Sephora

The Becca Beach Tint is a cream tint that is waterproof.  I picked up my Beach Tint in grapefruit.  It is a coral pink that looks beautiful on the lips and cheeks.  I feel that it works better as a tint on my cheeks than on my lips.  It is incredibly creamy, but you have to work quickly to blend it out before it sets.  It is oil-free and comes in a variety of colors.  $25.00 at Sephora.

Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle in Lychee/Opal- bubblegum pink infused with golden opal
$27.00 at Sephora

The Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle is a must have for summer.  It is a mix of a beach tint and a highlighter to give your cheeks a lit-from-within glow.  They are pretty expensive, but a little goes a long way.  They have shades for the fairest skin tones all the way to the deepest.  I use my finger and get a little bit out and dab it on both cheeks and blend after I have applied my bronzer.  These are so pigmented that you could even skip a bronzer and highlighter for a natural glow.  I love it so much, I plan to pick up a few more!!!

Bare Minerals Bareskin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation Review

This foundation has a great color range.  It offers twenty shades that range from pink undertones, neutral undertones and yellow undertones.  I am not a huge fan of the original Bare Minerals mineral foundation, but was intrigued by the liquid foundation.  First off, it is incredibly thin.  You have to shake it before each use to allow the foundation to blend seamlessly.  I didn't purchase the brush because I felt like my Sigma F80 would do the trick.  I put a few drops of the foundation on the back of my hand and then dipped my brush into it and applied it to half of my face.  Two drops didn't come close to offering a sheer coverage.  I needed four drop for sheer coverage.  The foundation looked like my skin, but better.  The finish was a mix between a natural and a dewy finish.  I applied it over a primer, due to the fact that I always use a primer.  The coverage was long-wearing and it looked great throughout the day.  I didn't notice some oil coming through on my forehead and nose, but that is typical for me.  A little blotting and I was good to go.  This foundation is formulated  without water, oil, silicone, parabens, and fragrance.  It is said to brighten and even your skin tone in eight weeks.  I cannot attest to that because I have only had it for a few weeks.  I will definitely continue using this as my skin has not broken out at all since I started using it.  I love this foundation!!!!  I picked it up at Ulta.  $29 for 1 fl. oz.  It seems as though this will last for a while because a little goes a long way.

What I am Loving Right Now!

The Lorac Unzipped Palette is absolutely phenomenal.  Each shadow is pigmented and creamy.  They are incredibly easy to blend and are very complementary to any eye color.  The palette contains ten eye shadows.  Four are matte and the other six are shimmery.  They offer a gleam to your lid or crease without looking glittery.  The shadows are large and a little goes a long way.   This palette reminds me a little bit of the Naked 3 palette due to the rosy and coppery shadows, but your collection could use both palettes.  This palette goes for $40-quite a bit cheaper than the Urban Decay palettes.  It comes with an eye primer as well.   Below is a picture of the shades swatched on my arm.  My lighting is bad, but hopefully this photo allows you to get an idea of the color range and the pigmentation.  Definitely a must have for your collection.

The Too Faced Sweethearts Flush Blush in Peach Beach is great even for fair skin.  This blush can be built up in order to get strong color payoff or can be used with a light hand to give you a beautiful highlight.  You can use each color individually or swirl your brush all over.  I use this over my blush to give me a nice glow or sometimes I use it alone to get a natural flush.  This offers the skin a great glow without making my face look like a disco ball.  $30 is a little steep for a blush, but it also works as three separate colors, a highlight, and a blush.  It is a great bang for your buck!
NYX HD concealer is great for covering up under eye discoloration. It is very creamy and blends well under the eye.  It does set well with powder, but I do notice some creasing after a few hours.  It is a great drugstore option for those of you that want a great concealer, but don't want to spend a lot of money.  I reach for this concealer when I want coverage and brightening under my eyes, but don't need it to last for more than 6 hours.  If it creases, you can just take your ring finger and blend it out.  It will look great with a little bit of attention.  I have reached for this often and will continue to do so through the warmer months.  $4.99 at Ulta.  It has a great color selection and also offers color correcting versions as well.  Lavender for sallow skin, green to minimize redness, yellow to cover dark circles.  I reach for the porcelain shade that doesn't offer correction, just coverage.

If you are a regular reader, you have already heard about this product.  I absolutely love the NYX Butter Glosses.  They are so creamy, pigmented, and moisturizing.  They do not wear incredibly long by themselves, but they do over a lip liner or over lipstick.  They are pigmented enough to wear alone, but make sure to reapply.  They have a light scent/flavor that is almost like cake batter, but not in a sickly sweet kind of way.  These are sold at Ulta for $4.99 and should be a staple in your makeup collection.  I own almost every shade.  Cupcake is one of the newer shades and I can't wait to rock this in the warm months!!!

Eyeshadow Suggestions

Eyeshadow is meant to make eyes pop. The colors listed as well as the brands provided are just suggestions.  Makeup is a fun thing to play with and "recommended" colors are not always my favorite.  You have to use what works for you.  Some prefer mattes over shimmers, while others go solely with shimmer shades.  I would recommend using a matte shade in your crease to add eye definition.  Shimmer on the lid usually makes the eyes pop.  I would recommend going with a palette so you have many options all in one place.  You are able to change your look often and the colors are meant to blend well together.  I would recommend any of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes.  There is one with mostly matte shades and one highlight shade called Naked Basics.  This is a mini palette and it is basic browns.  The Naked Palette is mostly warm toned, but contains some cool tones as well.  The Naked 2 Palette is more on the cool side, but also has some warm tones.  The Naked 3 Palette has pink based shades.  Another great palette is the Lorac Pro Palette.  This has half matte and half shimmer shades.

You can check out these eyeshadows on my Luvocracy page:

My Eyeshadow Luvocracy Page

If you have brown eyes- like yours truly, the options are endless.  I often wish that I had lighter eyes, but the perk with brown eyes is the wide option range.  Brown is a neutral color and it doesn't compete with colors in the same way that other colors do.  I tend to stick with bronze, peach, and muted purples on an everyday basis.  If you want to achieve a more dramatic look, reach for navy, purple, teal, and green.  These colors can make brown eyes truly pop!

Recommended colors-
Drugstore-
Rimmel London 002 Smokey Brown Eye shadow Quad
NYX Baked Eye Shadow BSH 31 in Chance

High End-
Lorac Pro Palette
MAC Satellite Dreams eye shadow

If you are fortunate enough to have blue eyes, you will want to reach for warmer shades.  Blue eyes are normally considered a cool tone and warmer tones truly make blue eyes stand out.  Gold, bronze, copper, champagne, and peach are great hues for baby blues.

Recommended colors-
Drugstore-
Rimmel London 019 Sun Safari Eye Shadow Quad
Maybelline Color Tattoo in 35 Breaking Bronze

High end-
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
MAC eye shadow in Honey Lust

Green eyes truly pop when purple or browns are used.  The browns need to have a reddish undertone.  You can also reach for pink, sepia, and rust.

Recommended colors-
Drugstore-
NYX  Eyeshadow ES15 Rust

High end-
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow in Rose Gold 8
MAC eye shadow in Sable
MAC eye shadow in Haux
MAC eye shadow in Trax

Hazel eyes are unique in the sense that they contain flecks of colors that can be played up or played down.  If you want to pick up the green in your eyes, reach for lavender, violet, or plum.  If you want your eyes to appear more on the brown side- use browns or grays.

Recommended colors-
Drugstore-
L'oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Continuous Cocoa
Rimmel Glam Eyes Quad in Smokey Purple

High end-
Urban Decay Naked Palette
MAC eyeshadow in Sketch

Spring Lip Products

You can check out of the products listed below on Luvocracy.com.  All of the items are listed there and are available for purchase.

It is no surprise to those of you that read my blog that I absolutely love NYX Butter Glosses.  I like the consistency, pigmentation, taste, and shine that the gloss offers.  The two colors that I recently picked up are fabulous!  The first color in the photograph is in the color Cupcake.  It is a hot pink color that is completely opaque with just one swipe.  It is decently long-wearing, but plan to reapply if you want the color to stay potent all day.  This is great by itself or paired with a hot pink lipstick.  You can always line your lips with hot pink liner and fill them in before applying.  This will transform this gloss into an extremely long-wearing gloss.

The next color in the photograph is the color Fortune Cookie.  This has all the great qualities of the Cupcake colored gloss, but instead is a great nude color.  It has a pinkish undertone, which is hard to pick up from the photograph.  I wear this alone when I am sporting a natural look or I put it over my favorite lipsticks to add shine and moisture.  These lippies are incredibly affordable and are completely necessary for your collection.

I am personally a fan of Mac Lipglasses, but if you do not care for sticky glosses- STEER CLEAR!!! This gloss has great color payoff and shine, but does leave your lips incredibly sticky.  It is long-wearing and mimics the look of a lipstick with a little bit of extra shine.  Lychee Luxe is a great color gloss for the upcoming warm days.  I don't personally like this on top of lipstick.  It tends to look like I have too much product on my lips.  This is more expensive than the Butter Glosses, but does offer you a longer wear.  Unique color that suits all skin tones.

Lime Crime offers opaque, long-wearing, and versatile colors.  Centrifuchsia is a mix between the vampy colors of colder weather and bright colors that transition beauty lovers through sunshine.  It is a bright lip, but looks better paired with a neutral eye.  It is a cream finish, but doesn't offer a lot of shine.  I like to top this with a clear gloss for a bold look. If I want to play down the color, I dab it on my lips for a less dramatic look.

Geradium is a great color to go with a tan or bronzed up skin.  It is incredibly bright, but flattering.  You can top it with a clear gloss or dab it for a slight wash of color.

NYX Lippies You'll Love!!!

Colors from left to right:
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sugar Pie
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in La-La
NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Nude Peach Fuzz
NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee
NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair
NYX Butter Gloss in Merengue

NYX lip products are extremely pigmented, creamy and affordable.  I love so many colors from the lines mentioned above, but these particular lippies are the ones that I will reach for in the upcoming months.  The Mega Shine Lip Glosses go on extremely opaque and are very moisturizing.  These are great for those of you that love the look of lipstick, but don't necessarily prefer the feel of it.  It leaves a glossy finish without leaving your lips looking like a disco ball.  These are great for use on their own or on top of a lipstick.  There is one potential downfall that will be a deal breaker for some of you...they have a very distinct cherry flavor.  I hated it at first, but the more I wore it, the less I noticed.  If you are one of those people that like a lipgloss without any flavoring, you should purchase a different lippie.
$4.99 at Ulta

The Xtreme Lip Cream is a little bit more like a lipstick than a gloss, but isn't quite as drying as a lipstick.  It is great for those of you that prefer a liquid lipstick, but don't like all of the shine that comes along with one.  They are longer wearing than the Mega Shine Lip Gloss.  I prefer the Mega Shine Lip Glosses over these just because I am a lipgloss junkie, but this is a great option as well.
$5.99 at Ulta

These last lip products are true lip glosses.  They have great color payoff and leave the lips with a great wash of color.  The whole collection is amazing, but I tend to reach for the particular colors listed below more frequently than other shades.  These are super cheap and leave my lips hydrated and glossy.  They aren't super long wearing, but I personally don't mind reapplying.  They look great over lipstick, but look just as good alone.  They each have a slightly different flavor that is supposed to match the name, but it isn't as noticeable as the Mega Shine Lip Glosses.  If you can only try one of these products, I would go with a gloss from this line.  You will not be disappointed!!

Must Have Milani Products!!!!

Milani products are a little tough to find in my area, but I am glad that I hunted these products down.  I found these products at CVS and at some Walgreens.  I would recommend checking out the Milani website to determine the closest location to your home.

I have purchased four blushes, two lip glosses, two brow products, two lipsticks and a bronzer from their makeup line.  I have to say that overall, I was extremely impressed.  These products are fairly inexpensive- they are priced similarly as other drugstore makeup brands.  Out of all of the items I purchased, I only disliked three of them.  I actually disliked the lipsticks and do not plan to repurchase regardless of their fabulous color options.  The lipstick was just blah in my opinion.  Many bloggers rave about their lipstick line, but I would pass and head to some of the other gems they offer.

Swatches of the products I mention in this blog post are at the bottom of the page.

Check out my Luvocracy page to check pricing on all of the products.  You can purchase every item right from Luvocracy.

My favorite product they offer would have to be their blush.  More specifically, their baked blushes.  Baked blush is formed by baking colored liquid on terra cotta tiles.  This process creates a creamier texture, which allows the product to glide seamlessly on your skin.  Most of their blushes contain glitter, but once it is applied it only leaves a sheen on the skin.  I love the whole collection, but I tend to use 05 Luminoso and 10 Delizioso Pink the most.  All of the blushes are incredibly pigmented. Another great thing about this collection is the range of colors.  They have shades that complement every skin tone.

I just started filling in my brows in the last year or so and I truly do not think that I will ever stop.  I never felt a need to fill in my eyebrows...probably due to the fact that they are thick and incredibly dark.  I have light brown hair, but have had naturally black eyebrows for a long time.  I don't care for bold brows, but filling in brows does not have to equate to a bold brow.  I fill mine in to even them out, provide a better shape, and to add color to sparse areas.  Your eyebrows frame your face and a little bit of color and product can really change your look.  I even find myself filling in my brows on days that I  am not wearing makeup.  This is a great brow kit for a few reasons.  First off, they have two great neutral browns in the kit.  They aren't too warm or too ashy.  I have to mix them to achieve a natural look.  The brush that they provide is better than most brow kits, but I don't personally use it unless I am in a bind.  The kit comes with tweezers which I don't use often either, but it is a nice tool to have in the kit.  The kit also contains a highlight color to really play up the brow bone.  This powder blends seamlessly and sets all day as long as you throw a clear brow gel on top.  Incredibly great kit if you are just starting out or if you want to your brows to look natural and picture perfect.  I purchased my kit in 01 Light.

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the Milani Brow Shaping Clear Gel.  First off, the wand is shaped perfectly to go over small brow hairs and hold them in place.  The wand is amazing.  Secondly, the gel truly holds my brows in place without making them look like I rubbed glue all over my face.  I get a strong hold with a natural look. This gel would be great even if you don't plan on filling in your brows.

The last product you need in your collection is the Lip Intense Liquid Color.  I purchased mine is 03 Fiery Coral.  They offer other colors as well, but this color caught my eye.  It is a liquid lipstick in a lipgloss form.  It gives you great color payoff, but with a nice glossy finish.  I don't find it to be drying, but it isn't really moisturizing either.  If you want your lips to feel moisturized, you could always apply a thick chapstick or gloss before applying this liquid lipstick.  It lasts a long time and gives great coverage.  If you are a person that loves great color payoff and prefers gloss over lipstick, check out the wonderful colors they offer!!

Lipsticks you need for your collection

These lipsticks would be a great addition to your collection.  I love all of the brands mentioned below, but would not recommend the NYX Butter lipstick or Maybelline Whisper lipstick in other colors.  These two stick out within their collection.  As for the others, Revlon, Mac, Urban Decay and the NYX Round Lipstick collections are awesome.  They are true to color.

All of these products are listed on my Luvocracy page:

All under Makeup Must Haves

Cheapest to Most Expensive:
NYX Lipsticks
Revlon Lipsticks
Maybelline Color Whisper Lipsticks
Mac Lipsticks
Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks

Revlon Primrose
Mac Cream Cup
Maybelline Whispers- Lust for Blush
Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick-Native
NYX Butter Lipstick -Pops
NYX Round Lipstick -Perfect

I love a bold lip as much as the next girl, but every single makeup enthusiast needs to own a few great nude/pink lipsticks.  These colors can be worn year round and offer a great makeup look.  The best nude/pink lipstick shade for you is one shade lighter or darker than your natural lip color.  This will give you a pop of color while still allowing you a natural look.  I personally love all of these regardless of the range.

Revlon Primrose- is a cream sheen, which means it is moisturizing, but does not contain glitter.  It gives my lips a nice wash of color.  I tend to reach for this more in the Spring and Summer due to the undertone.  This is great for fair, light, and medium skin tones.

MAC Cream Cup has to fall in my top five lipsticks I own.  This lipstick is extremely creamy and pigmented.  It looks great year round and doesn't even need to be topped with a gloss.  I do top with a gloss, but that is just due to the fact that I am obsessed with lipgloss.  This lipstick looks good on everyone.

Maybelline Lust for Blush is similar to Cream Cup, but a little less pigmented.  They are similar in tone, but it takes a lot more swipes of Lust for Blush to achieve an extremely pigmented look.  If you don't want to shell out the money for a MAC lipstick, reach for this lipstick as a backup.  It is moisturizing and extremely flattering on the lips.

Urban Decay Native is a little bit more nude than Cream Cup, but looks great on my lips.  It is great for when you plan to play up your eyes and want a natural lip.  This is the most creamy of all of the lipsticks, but it isn't very long wearing.  This feels great on so I have no issue reapplying often.  It also provides a nice shine to the lips.

NYX Butter Lipstick in Pops looks like my natural lips with just a slight twist.  I like this when I am trying to achieve a very natural look.  It feels and looks like a gloss.  If you want a lipstick that wears more like a gloss, this is a great lipstick for you.  It is a tad bit darker than my natural lip color, but it is just different enough to amp up my look.  It does take a while to build up to an opaque look, but it is worth it.

NYX Round Liptick in Perfect- This is a great mix between a nude and a berry color.  I reach for this nude in the fall and winter time. It is incredibly pigmented and moisturizing.  I love that I don't need a lot of product to get an opaque look.  This is great for someone who wants a great lipstick at a fraction of the price of high end lipsticks.  If this is a little too brown for you, they have other great options at Ulta.  The shimmery shades are not as pigmented, but all of the cream shades are great!!!

NYX Baked Blush and Beauty Balm Review

I was so excited for these new NYX products to come out.  I searched high and low in both nearby locations of Ulta without any luck.  I finally asked a sales associate about it and they had them in the back.  She was kind enough to bring out the box and I was able to pick through and grab some new products to try.  I was lucky enough to head home with two baked blushes and a beauty balm.  I have had mostly good luck with NYX products in the past so I had high hopes for both of these products.
I have had a lot of difficulty finding BB creams that work on my fair skin tone.  I am incredibly fair with pink under tones and most BB creams look too orange or too dark on my skin.  I usually use a BB cream when I want a natural look that covers up my dark spots and redness.  This product claims that it will brighten, smooth and moisturize.  It is oil-free and mineral enriched.  It comes in a box, but I already threw mine away:(  I purchased mine in the lightest shade, nude.  Let me start off by saying I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS BB CREAM!!!! It has a velvety smooth consistency and blends into my skin like butter.  I use a Beauty Blender to apply it and it gives me a flawless finish that looks like natural skin. It makes me look like me, but better.  Who doesn't want that?  It does have a slight fragrance, but it is light and fresh.  The scent doesn't linger on my skin for long, but I do notice it when I first apply it.  I think is great for someone who wants a little bit of coverage that keeps your skin looking natural and fresh.  If you are someone who likes a full coverage look, this is great underneath your makeup. It doesn't look cakey when applied underneath your everyday foundation.  It comes in three colors: light(nude), medium and dark.  It sells for $12.99 at Ulta.

The next two items I picked up were also a hit!  The new NYX Baked Blushes are amazing!  The packaging is absolutely adorable.  It comes in a black box that snaps shut.  You open the box by pushing up on a black bow.  Too cute!  They are extremely pigmented and have a beautiful sheen that is not sparkly.  I do not care for glitter in my blushes, but these don't have glitter. Instead they offer a beautiful glow that makes my skin look flawless.  I use a duo fiber brush to apply these and it buffs the color naturally into my skin.  They blend flawlessly into my skin and they offer great color choices.  I picked up BBL05 Foreplay and BBL08 Ignite.  These colors are drastically different.  Foreplay is a pink blush that would look good on fair to medium skin tones.  It is good for an everyday blush.  Ignite is described as a muted orange, but it looks more coral when it is applied to the skin.  I like this for a summery look, but not for use on a day-to-day basis.  I think that these blushes are great for the price and the color range is amazing.  You could also purchase a lighter color and use it as a highlighter.  These are a great buy to transition into spring and summer.  I can't wait to get my hands on more colors from their new collection.

Drugstore Mascara Brands

I tend to stick to drugstore mascaras only.  I have found many mascaras that I like that are high-end, but I prefer to spend a little less when it comes to mascara.  I tend to use more than one mascara to achieve the look I am going for.   I don't use a waterproof formula because I don't like how the formula feels when I am removing it.

Tips:

Mascara should be replaced every 3 months.

Save the wand from a tube of mascara that you are going to throw out.  Wash it off and use it to separate your lashes after applying mascara.  It will help remove clumps from your lashes.

Be sure to squeeze your lashes in three places: at the base, in the middle, and at the tips.  Hold for three second each time to help hold a curl.

Try to twirl the mascara wand into the mascara rather than pumping it in and out.  When you pump the wand, it pushes air in and may cause your mascara to dry out quicker, which leads to more clumps on your lashes.

Apply mascara to both the front and back of your top lashes for a fuller look.

Using more than one mascara may allow you to achieve your desired result!

These mascaras are not placed in any particular order.

L'oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara is one of my favorites.  I use this almost daily.  It is a great mascara if you are looking to lengthen, separate and curl your lashes.  I apply a few layers and do not have any issues with clumping at all.  The formula is gentle on my eyes and long-wearing.  I don't think this is great for volume, but if you build it up enough it does a decent job.  I am a sucker for packaging and love the look of this product.  I do not like this wand for my bottom lashes, but it does a great job of connecting with my lashes and controlling their movement in a gentle manner. Two thumbs up!

The Rocket Volum' Mascara received a lot of hype when it was released.  I do like this to add volume to my lashes, but they tend to get clumpy.  I have to be very careful when applying this or I can start to look like my lashes are spider legs.  Yuck!  It does help with curling my straight lashes, but overall I think other products help my stubborn lashes more than this.  This would be a great mascara if you already have long lashes and are looking for more volume.

The Rimmel Lash Accelerator is the other part of my mascara puzzle.  I apply the L'oreal mascara first and then use this afterwards to add volume, length and curl.  You can apply multiple coats of this product without it clumping.  It is supposed to aid in lash growth, but I haven't noticed any changes in my lashes. This mascara is also great for application on the bottom lashes.  I would recommend adding this mascara to your beauty routine.  Two thumbs up!

The Maybelling Mega Plush Volum' Express has a unique mousse formula that is supposed to prevent clumping.  I find that the formula is great, but I don't like the wand that comes with it.  It is extremely bendable and therefore doesn't offer a lot of control.  It is a good mascara if you want to pull off a look that is very natural.  It makes your lashes look better, but like they are still just your lashes without the addition of mascara.  I personally like to look like I am wearing mascara if I am going to take the time to apply it.  The wand does add volume, but I still don't think it is a great product.  I absolutely hate using this on my bottom lashes. It smears and leaves marks everywhere.  If you want your mascara to look extremely natural then I would recommend it, but otherwise you should skip this product.

The L'oreal Power Volume lives up to the name.  It offers a ton of volume without adding clumps to my lashes.  I do love the formula and the control the wand gives me.  I prefer to have longer, separated and curled lashes, but if you want more volume- this is the mascara for you.  I reach for this mascara when I want a dramatic look.

The Maybelline Falsies Mascara was a great idea!  It offers one brush to use with your upper lashes and one to use with your lower lashes.  I wish that they had chosen a different wand for the upper lashes, but they chose one that does nothing for me.  The formula is great, but the wand doesn't seem to help my stubborn lashes at all.  The wand for lower lashes is amazing.  It can get to all my lashes on the bottom and my tiny upper lashes that other wands cannot reach.  I would recommend buying this just for the lower wand.
The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara comes with a great wand.  it is curved in a half-moon shape which really allows your lashes to curl without a lot of effort.  The formula is good and long-wearing.  This would be great for those of you that are blessed with long lashes.  It offers great results in the volumizing and curling department, but not so much in the lengthening and separating department.
